Voices were raised now and then from many quarters, alleging that the English translation of the Holy Qur'an undertaken by the late English Muslim scholar, Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall, titled The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'an contains serious mistakes which need to be looked into and corrected to make the translation serve the purpose for which it was undertaken.
However the original translation, with all the mistakes, is still being published by various publishers throughout the world and is being widely circulated. Perturbed by this, a concerned Muslim brother in Singapore sent us a pamphlet published by one brother, Iqbal Husain Ansari of Karachi, Pakistan, containing a list of 248 corrections in Pickthall's celebrated translation. This has prompted us to undertake this job which we, as an Islamic publisher, consider as our sacred duty.
This edition has incorporated all corrections as listed by Mr. Iqbal, and we hope will have the approval of Muslim scholars and readers of the holy book.
May Allah subhdnahu wa ta' ala accept the efforts of all of us in this field as a good deed in His service.
