Morteza Motahhari (1919-1979) was an Iranian philosopher, cleric, and writer who was a prominent figure in the Islamic Republic of Iran:
Life
Born in Fariman, Persia, Motahhari was a professor at the University of Tehran before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. He was a student of Ruhollah Khomeini and was close to his mentor. After the revolution, he was appointed as the chairman of the Council of the Islamic Revolution. He was assassinated in Tehran in 1979.
Works
Motahhari was a prolific writer and thinker, and most of his books are collections of his lectures and articles. His work covered a wide range of topics, including religion, society, and the economy.
Influence
Motahhari is considered to have had a significant influence on the ideologies of the Islamic Republic. He is known as the "Martyr Teacher" in the literature of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
